The Government is asking parents to keep children at home whenever possible – schools remain open only for children who need to attend.

Update Letter to Parents/Carers RE Approach to Re-opening after Half-term

Dear Parents and Carers.

Following the Prime Minister’s recent announcements, I want to outline to you the approach to be taken by Co-op Academy Portland with regards to re-opening after half term.

In the week beginning Monday 1st June, the academy will continue to be open for children of key-workers and to vulnerable pupils as it has been throughout. We will, of course, also be welcoming our new headteacher, Mrs Peace, and I know she will want to review the premises and plan with me prior to potentially re-opening for other groups of pupils.

We are aiming to reopen the academy to Year 6 pupils from Monday 8th June and to pupils in Reception and Year 1 soon after. Details will be provided in due course.

Co-op Academy Portland will be closed for all pupils over the half-term break 25th May – 29th May, but, as stated above, will be back open for all key-worker children as usual on Monday 1st June. I appreciate that this may cause some childcare issues for those of you who have been sending children into school, however, this decision has been made to give us the best opportunity to ensure the academy is thoroughly clean for the coming weeks of phased return for our pupils.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs K Allen
Acting Headteacher
