Latest Parent’s Newsletter | October 2018
Welcome officially to Co-op Academy Portland and thank you for all of the positive comments in relation to the new signs in the school grounds, and how smart they look.
Parents Evening/ Week
Many thanks to all those who attended, I hope you found it informative and helpful. Your involvement is key to your child making good progress in school.
I know that ensuring children remain safe while online is a priority for all of us and recently a number of parents have asked if there is any guidance they can access at home. Below are a couple of helpful websites that offer suggestions, tips and things to
discuss with your child; I hope you find them useful.
I can confirm the dates of our next two INSET days for this academic year, when pupils will not be in school, as:
Monday 7th January, 2019
Friday 15th February, 2019
As such there is one more INSET day to be arranged for later in the school year and I will pass on the date when it is confirmed.
Entry to School in the morning
A big thank you for your support in leaving the top yard on the second whistle in the mornings, it has really helped in getting the pupils into school for a prompt start.
Lunchboxes and Coats
Can I please request that you ensure all lunchboxes and coats are clearly named. Lots of them look alike and it has caused some confusion, especially at lunchtime.
Reading and Maths visits
I know that a number of you have really enjoyed the opportunity to come into school to read with your child or see how they approach a maths challenge. Dates for this half term are:
Reading: Friday 23rd November from 2:30pm
Maths: Tuesday 11th December from 2:30pm
Please come along, it is a great opportunity to come into school, the pupils love it when you come in to work with them and the PTA put on tea & coffee!
Thank you for your continued support.
