Our staff and academy enjoyed a great evening at this year’s Co-op Academies Trust Recognition Event. Each year colleagues from every academy in the Trust get together to celebrate achievements and successes. And this year we are delighted to have won several awards.
Staff members nominate their colleagues each year who have gone above and beyond in their role; staff who have made a real impact on either the pupils’ at the academy, our families, our community and/or the staff themselves.
We joined all of the other Primary academies at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester to celebrate and pay recognition to our colleagues and what they have achieved this past year.
Community Award Winners
2021
Our first award of the evening was the Community Award. This is in recognition of all the great work we have done in and for the local community. Our community is integral in everything we do and we are thrilled to be recognised for the impact we have had. A real team effort.
Succeed Together Award | Office Staff

The second award of the night was the Succeed Together Award, which went to our amazing Office Staff. This is in recognition of all of the hard work which has been pivotal for the academy and our families this past year, especially coping with additional demands due to Coronavirus. The Office staff have contributed enormously and have constantly put the needs of others first.
Governing Body Award Winners
2021
Next up was the Governing Body Award, which was awarded to our Governing Body (now known as our Academy Governing Council). At our academy, governors include representatives of staff, parents, our sponsor The Co-op and other local organisations. Governors are volunteers who give up their time to help the academy be the best it can be. Their role is to work together with academy leaders to set the strategic direction of the academy. Their hard work and effort have been recognised.
Geoff Clark Award Winner | Mrs. Tolcher
2021
Last but certainly not least, Mrs. Tolcher was awarded this year’s Geoff Clark Award. This was in recognition of Mrs. Tolcher’s remarkable acts of kindness in going above and beyond for our families at Christmas time, making sure they had wonderful hampers.
The best part of it all was sharing the success with our parents and carers, who were happy to see our wonderful staff achieve the recognition they deserve. Any success we achieve is down to everyone at Team Portland…staff, pupils’, parents and carers, and our local community.
