Exciting changes! 
After nearly five years of dedication and leadership, we bid a heartfelt farewell to our headteacher Mrs Peace.
Our new leadership arrangements, effective immediately:
Katy Bergman joins us as our Executive Headteacher.
Shaun Leathers will step into the role of Head of School.
Charlotte Shannon will take on the role of Deputy Headteacher.
As the current executive headteacher of Co-op Academy Hillside and Co-op Academy Woodslee, Katy is looking forward to working with Team Portland as well.

A packed dojo today with 24 dedicated students, plus 4 new starters! 🥋 What an incredible opportunity to learn karate – and the best part? Aside from the cost of the uniform, every class is completely free, running all year round. Huge thanks to Sensei Paul, Sensei Ann, and Mrs. Smith for making this amazing club possible! #LifeSkills 🥋 #MoreThanJustASchool"

Community News
SEND drop-in at Co-op Academy Hillside from 9am on Tuesday 28th January.
Please join Mr. Leathers, Ms. Bergman and Mrs McGowan to chat about anything related to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Portland families, please let us know at the office if you need transport and Mr. Leathers will organise for us to leave together from Portland.
Support our “Ride and Rant” for Wirral Mind!
This Time to Talk Day, Co-op Academy Hillside, Portland and Woodslee are going all out to support mental health awareness with our “Ride and Rant” spinathon!
On Saturday, 8th February, a group of us will cycle non-stop for 6 hours at Bidston Council Gym to raise funds for Wirral Mind, an incredible charity supporting mental health in our community.
The event kicks off with spin classes led by our fabulous school staff, followed by a team effort to keep the wheels turning. Together, we’ll tag-team to ensure at least one bike is spinning at all times and tally up our miles to see how far we can go.
Exercise is a fantastic way to boost mental wellbeing, and this event is all about getting people moving, talking and supporting a cause that makes a real difference.
Please donate to help us reach our goal and support Wirral Mind in their vital work. Every pound raised will help provide mental health resources and support to those who need it most.

The barriers to accessing education are wide and complex, both within and beyond the school gates, and are often specific to individual pupils and families.
