Welcome to Co-op Academy Portland.
I am so proud we are able to work in this incredible community. Every day I am inspired by the achievements and aspirations of our children.
I joined this school in 2020, during one of the most challenging times in education. But I am very clear that I will make this school Outstanding in every category because that is what this community needs and deserves.
In 2018 we joined the very successful Co-op Academies Trust. The Co-op offer an amazing opportunity for us to develop our school. The Co-op values give us a clear route to a very successful future, through co-operation we can all achieve great things.
Our academy has eight classes including a Foundation One base. We build excellent relationships between children, staff and parents. We’re a happy, welcoming school at the centre of our community.
We have high standards of teaching and learning and our staff are committed to sharing and developing this work. We’ve recently reviewed many aspects of our curriculum and are currently implementing a number of exciting changes that will enhance pupil learning – developing your child in all areas, not just academic.
Working closely with you will mean that pupils will achieve their potential and become valuable members of the community.
Children’s attitudes and personal qualities are very important to us and we work hard in partnership with you to develop these.
I do not hide the fact that we prioritise the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics because pupil confidence and attainment in these areas is key for their personal development, opening up future life opportunities and achieving their full potential.
